Professor Jane Green elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Jane Green FAcSS, Professorial Fellow, Professor of Political Science and British Politics, Director of the Nuffield Politics Research Centre, and co-Director of the British Election Study has been elected to the Academy of Arts and Sciences. This honour signifies the high regard in which a Fellow is held by leaders in their field and members throughout the nation.

Professor Green said:

‘Being elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences is a huge honour. I’m grateful for the many opportunities I’ve been given over the years, not least of which the chance to co-direct the British Election Study for the last ten years and to reach large audiences with our analysis, and to latterly join Nuffield College and the Department of Politics and International Relations. I’m very fortunate to work with great colleagues who I continually learn from, and I look forward to now contributing to the American Academy.’

International Honorary Membership of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Founded in 1780, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences’ aim has always been ‘to cultivate every art and science which may tend to advance the interest, honour, dignity, and happiness of a free, independent, and virtuous people’. It does so today by bringing together leaders from around the world, across all fields of research and work, to address global challenges in a cross-disciplinary manner. Members’ work has helped set the direction of research and analysis in science and technology policy, global security and international affairs, social policy, education, the humanities, and the arts.
